Music of 2014

I live and breathe music.  I’ve been searching for a track all year… it briefly appeared on my radar as a free track, too good to be a free track, but a free track.  However before I could download the track was pulled with no clues about why.

Sure there are those who don’t breathe music, they may even have said it was a bad year for music.  For me it was an amazing year.  It didn’t hurt that I saw Cher and Cyndi Lauper kill it on stage.  Kylie released and toured for her Kiss Me Once album, with fans raving about both the album and the tour.  I of course have been Into the Blue ever since I met the goddess of pop backstage.

Beyoncé surprised us all.  Madonna tracks leaked.  And the public bought into the worst, Taylor Swift.

I enjoyed the releases from Stine Bramsen (Alphabeat), Eric Prydz, Coldplay, Gwen Stefani, Robyn, and even Nick Jonas’s Jealous.

But the real surprises were the new talent.  Clean Bandit surprised me with Rather Be, definitely my anthem of 2014.  Ariana Grande broke free unto the scene.

And lastly, that track I’ve been looking for all year… Betty Who – All of You.  Released late last year by Peter Thomas, her producer, to build hype over their combined talent.  Re-released by Betty Who because it’s just that good.

Sometimes we focus too much on the old.  Or like the thirst quenching abilities of one hit wonders.  The great thing about 2014 is the promise for more.  I don’t want my thirst quenched quite yet, I want to see what the future holds.  New talent together with some amazing experiences have me invigorated for more music in 2015!
